STEPS TO SUCCESS
Eight Steps on Your Road to Success
STEP | PHRASE | EXPLANATION |
1 | SWOT Analysis | Carry out a SWOT analysis of yourself; that is, analyse your personal strengths and weaknesses, your opportunities and threats. |
2 | Check List of What is Needed to Succeed | What is needed can include personal characteristics such as persistence, determination, and ability to listen and deal with set backs. |
3 | Discuss With Those Close to You | Discuss it with anyone close to you who will be affected by your efforts. Remember, it is better to have strong support from those closest to you |
4 | Make a Final Decision to Pursue Your Dream and Set Firm Objectives | If you have decided to go for your chosen success, then set yourself some firm objectives, or even just one firm objective |
5 | Planning Your Success | Put together an outline plan of what you need to do to achieve the success for which you strive. It can be a list to begin with, a check list of everything you have to do, including such things as knowledge gaps you need to fill, skills you need to acquire, and weaknesses you must address to guarantee long term success |
6 | Monitor Progress | Monitoring your progress against the plan is vital. You may think you are doing well, when in fact you have omitted something critical or are far behind in a crucial task. |
7 | Be Frankly Critical With Yourself | Take a critical look at what you have achieved so far, maybe at the half way stage, and tell yourself frankly what and where you need to do better. Determine where you are letting yourself down, and decide what to do about it. Then add your new actions to your plans. |
8 | The Final Climb to the Peak | A final check of your equipment, your knowledge, your health and your determination. Are they all ready to go? If so, then you are on your way, there is no stopping you now. You are a success |

TIPS FOR SELF IMPROVEMENT
Get off to a Good Start
This means getting up early and eating breakfast. You will have much more energy throughout the day.
Keep a Schedule
It is a very good idea to write down the tasks you need to achieve in each day.
As you complete them, tick them off.
You should not, however, feel like you are bound to your list. If you don’t manage to do everything, it doesn’t matter – move any incomplete tasks from today on to tomorrow’s list. This is also a great help if you are a procrastinator.

Take a Break and have Fun
If you spend too much time in front of the computer, at your desk, or doing whatever it is that your occupation requires, you should take a break. This doesn’t mean you have to take time off work – it just means you should try to make better use of your non-work time to do something fun.
Be Generous
You can be generous with your smiles, your advice, and many other things. Always try to find a way to help others. Not only are you doing a good thing by helping them out, but you may also make a great new friend.
Accept the things you can’t Change
If you can make yourself accept the things you cannot change – you will become a much happier person. Acceptance of these situations also allows us to start finding a way to cope much faster
Learn a New Language
Learning another language is one of the best ways to improve your grasp on English.
Break the Chain
If you have a lot of patterns in your life, try breaking them – do something different every day. Not only do you get to broaden your experiences of life, you open up many doors for the future.
Face the Fear
Every day you should do something you don’t want to do – or feel uncomfortable doing. In no time you will be so much more confident that you abolish the fear entirely and can move on to the next fear
Forget Goals – Live for the Now
WHAT IS SELF MOTIVATION ???
Self motivation is the ability to satisfy a desire, expectation, or goal without being influenced to do so by another person. Besides, self motivation is the key to a paradigm shift or behaviour changes amongst individuals. Many motivation courses or peak performance training mainly address this aspect but the cumulative effect is temporary and the key factor always is the presence of a constant reminder.
